As we leave 2015 in all it’s glory and head into 2016, what will you do?
May I suggest, rather than making resolutions that are likely to fail, you simply change your perspective? A few months ago, I shared a rough draft of my book now titled “Soar Into Health” with my mother for her input. She told me that it was a “good story” and should be shared. Then she briefly said, “I am only sad that I didn’t make an impression on you like your father has.” She was commenting on the fact that I didn't use specific examples or stories of my mother in the book. Let me be clear, this book is not a story of my entire life per se. I do share personal experiences, as they are relevant to where and why this book was written. I share recent experiences as they are relevant to making a point or even offer up solutions to modern day problems. The book is not supposed to be about my parents or my family or even me, but to complete the purpose of the book, I had to share enough so that it made sense. Although I digress here a bit, let me explain how my mother relates to Inspiration Thursday. She had a profound, if not at times irritating, way of making the best of EVERY situation. When all you wanted was sympathy for your bad day, you got that and much much more. She is the epitome of “making lemonade out of lemons.” Seriously, if you know my mom, you would seriously laugh…because it is so true. Nothing stops her from doing her good deeds. Challenges may be where she thrived the most. She solved problems, moved around problems just to get to the destination. So, she is the inspiration behind Inspiration Thursday as we wrap up 2015. Looking forward into your new year, maybe simply focusing on the positive in your life is enough. It may be that this is a time of big change, and that’s cool too. Take a moment to relish in the positive of your last year and your current state. No matter the time of year, you are ALWAYS growing and changing and evolving. My resolution this year is to re-focus with my new glasses on the positive in my life. The more I focus in on it, the more I see it, and the more of it there is….it's a kind of miracle. Cheers and Happy New Year. 2016 is going to be filled with more love and inspiration and positive change…you’ll see…I promise. Eat well. Move well. Sleep well. Soar on.
