If you don’t start somewhere, you’re gonna go nowhere.
I have laid out four KISS principles to health and wellness. At no point have I said any of these was easy to do. The point really is to provide a framework of reference in order for you to make decisions in your life, simple as that. Should you find yourself stuck and not feeling your best, but you don’t know why, then simply start somewhere. For me, my start was actually movement, and then that flowed into eating, then sleeping, and then thriving. It doesn’t have to go in that order. But all components are important.
At one point, I would have said that eating well was the most important. I felt that way because you can’t move well without adequate energy from nutrients from food, and certainly, your sleep is disrupted if you aren’t moving and eating well. Really, the point is that they are all interwoven. So, no matter what you start with, start somewhere. You could choose to focus on sleep because you feel tired all the time, and that would be a good start. But if it doesn’t solve the problem, then look next into one of the other KISS principles. And keep moving and adjusting through the KISS principles until you find balance.
If you find yourself stuck, then you may need to seek professional help. One of the reasons I love health care is that to do it right and to do it well you need to address all of these principles. No body system operates in isolation. Traditional health care may have forgotten those words of wisdom, but it is coming back. So if you have a painful condition that limits your movement, seek help from a qualified health care provider, like a physical therapist, who can help with movement. If you have pain, maybe acupuncture, functional medicine, or naturopathy can help give you natural relief, even checking with a medical doctor to help rule out anything scary.
Remove. Replace. Restore.
Replace with one of the KISS principles. Start somewhere. Seek help if you need it so you can keep rolling.
